Samsung used CES to reveal a revolution in ball technology. Ballie is Watch Woman Living in A Motel Room Onlinea rolling robot that follows you around — kind of like BB-8, but the size of a softball.

According to Samsung, it can be used to patrol your home, its camera searching for burglars. That camera can also be used to capture "special moments," said Sebastian Seung, executive vice president at Samsung Electronics. Moments like your grandmother's bewildered face as a robot ball follows her to the bathroom in the middle of the night, or your dog right before it destroys your new toy.

Samsung also says Ballie is a fitness assistant, because nothing gets your blood pumping like being chased or chirped at by a robot.
