The exclusive Comic-Con footage opens in that most ’80s of settings - a brightly lit shopping mall - where Wonder Woman comes leaping in, landing in front of two menacing-looking men with guns.

A kid spots her: “Oh my gosh!” she says, looking delighted. Wonder Woman looks around and sends the kid sliding across the floor into an enormous teddy bear. The kid just laughs.

Meanwhile, Wonder Woman’s getting back to the business of battling bad guys. She grabs their wrists, takes their guns, and crushes the weapons in their hands like they’re empty soda cans.

As the guys try to get away, she throws her lasso, which snares both of them by the foot. Diana leaps into the courtyard on the floor below, while the men get dragged behind her.

The footage doesn’t reveal much – partly because Wonder Woman 1984has been shooting for only three and half weeks, so there isn’t much footage to show anyway – but based on that brief glimpse, Diana looks as wonderfully heroic as ever.

At the panel, director Patty Jenkins underlined the importance of recapturing the best of Diana.

“She is us, more than most superheroes. People find themselves in Wonder Woman, and identify and find the Wonder Woman within them, of all genders, races, sizes, disabilities.”

“We’re staying very true to [the] original Marston Wonder Woman that was so loving and good and kind and warm yet powerful without question, and open-minded and giving, while struggling with her own challenges,” Jenkins continued. “She made all of us believe in the Wonder Woman within us. That’s what I care about.”

Wonder Woman 1984hits theaters November 1, 2019, which is so long from now that we kinda wanna cry.
